DEC. 1, 2007 ==================================================8:30 amWe're here. We're (almost) live. And we're ready for 25 hours of racing. Testing went smoothly yesterday with only a few minor repairs needed. The rest of our crew arrived last night. This morning we are finishing the vinyl and hoping for a smooth race. Sadly, we had a malfunction with our 2.4 GHz transmitter. This means we won't have any in-car video this year.
December 1, 2007 =============================================== 9:00 amAnd the Cars are out on the track! We qualified as #41 overall last night (with two loose rear wheels), which puts us in the middle of the pack of 70. We are between our friendly competitors, Team Kuhmo Tires #1 and #2. Andrew Caddell will be our first driver. The connection speeds here at the track are terribly show, so we're going to be a little less than live, but we're working on it.
December 1, 2007 =============================================== 11:00 amAnd they're off! Everything looks good... (that's Andrew in the car)
December 1, 2007 =============================================== 6:00 pmWe are in first place in the E2 class. Andrew Caddell and Todd Lamb have both finished their first stints and David A. Bahr is currently in the car. The pit stops have gone very smoothly as has the driver changes. The sun set before 5 pm, so it is officially dark now. We think we've got a steady connection, so look for more updates soon.
December 2, 2007 ================================================= 12:15 amWe;re past the half-way point and we're still in the lead. The first four drivers completed a combined total of over 300 laps! There have been a number of mishaps on the track including a nasty hit on the Pacific Power Motorsports 97 car. The 04 car, run by Market Scan Motorsports, has slowly worked their way up and are now number two in the E2 class, ahead of the Team Kuhmo 02 car. We're still driving strong with Kim Wilcox just finishing his first stint, and Charles Mathes currently behind the wheel. In other news, weather predictions have a 30% chance of precipitaion after 3am. We have been prepping the pit area for rain, and have the rain tires on standby.We've also put up our first slideshow of pictures. Check it out on the media page.
December 2, 2007 =============================================== 3:20 amThe BiggsB Enterprises Miata is still in first place in the E2 class! We just had a four tire pit stop with a driver change from Charles to Andrew. The Market Scan Motorsports car is in the paddock at this point, but the Team Kuhmo car has closed the gap and we are only two laps ahead with 390 to 388.
December 2, 2007 ============================================== 6:00 amIt's officially... damp. There has been a light drizzle since 4 am. We're still neck and neck with the Team Kumho car. They lead for a handful of laps, but now we're up by one lap. The crew is getting naps when they can. The sun should be up within an hour... 6 hours to go!
December 2, 2007 ============================================== 8:00 amSo here's something to chew on: The BiggsB Miata just completed its 500th lap. At 3 miles per lap that's 1500 miles in less than 21 hours. If you drove 1500 miles from Thunderhill, to Sacramento, and continued on I-80 East, you would make it half way across Nebraska. Think about that.
December 2, 2007 ============================================== 11:00 amWith ONE HOUR left to go, we are still in the lead with a healthy 5 laps between us and the Team Kuhmo 68 car. Andrew Caddell is is behind the wheel again. It's cold and cloud with a couple drips, but the track is dry. 60 minutes to go....
December 2, 2007 ============================================== 11:30 amWe're holding on to the lead by three laps... December 2, 2007 ============================================== 12:15 pm
